The Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) has announced the extension of its "Jibayatic" IT system to 14 new tax centres across several provinces as part of its digital transformation strategy. The system aims to improve relations between the administration and taxpayers by simplifying tax procedures, reducing processing times, and increasing transparency. According to tax expert Boubekeur Sellami, this initiative is part of a long-term vision that began more than a decade ago, with a gradual rollout depending on infrastructure availability. Local centres manage local taxation and the flat-rate system, while tax centres handle actual corporate taxation. By modernizing its services and placing citizens at the forefront, the DGI reaffirms its leading role in the digitization of public services in Algeria.
