A Chinese group to complete the Aïn Oussara power plant project

The Société Algérienne d'Electricité et de Gaz-Production d'Electricité (a subsidiary of Sonelgaz) has reached an agreement (in principle on the proposal by the Spanish company Duro Felguera to entrust the remaining work on the Aïn Oussera power plant project (Djelfa) to a Chinese group.

A company statement said on Wednesday, "The Chinese group is committed to completing the plant construction, with commissioning scheduled to start in the ninth month following the final agreement.

Spanish company "in pre-bankruptcy phase

"To complete the construction project for the Ain Oussara power plant in the wilaya of Djelfa, Société Algérienne d'Électricité et de Gaz-Production d'Électricité has reached an agreement in principle on the proposal by the Spanish company "DURO FELGUERA", to entrust the remaining work on the project to the Chinese group made up of three companies (CPECC-APCC-NWEPDI), with a commitment by this group to complete construction of the plant, and gradual commissioning from the ninth month following final agreement", adds the press release.

The Spanish company "has been in the pre-bankruptcy phase since December 2024, and stopped construction work on the plant in June 2024", the same source states, adding that "application of the terms of this agreement in principle will, in addition to resuming work on the plant, put an end to the arbitration and preserve the interests of both parties.
