During his visit to Annaba, the Minister of the Pharmaceutical Industry emphasised the importance of meeting deadlines and adhering to quality standards in the construction of the new vaccine production facility. This strategic project aims to strengthen the country's health sovereignty and reduce the cost of vaccine imports, estimated at $150 million per year, which could increase to $200 million due to the gradual expansion of production.
The minister also announced the signing of partnerships worth more than $725 million at the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), aimed at developing the pharmaceutical industry and promoting openness to foreign markets. He sought to reassure the public about the availability of essential medicines, stating that no shortages had been reported, including for cancer treatments.
The CEO of the Saidal Group, Nabila Benyghzer, presented the details of the project: a 22,267 m² facility in the El Bouni industrial zone due for completion in 24 months.. Production will begin with vaccines for the national program, before expanding to other types in partnership with the Pasteur Institute. This project will help meet national demand, create jobs, and position Algeria as a major regional player in the pharmaceutical industry.
