The American Chamber of Commerce in Algeria (AmCham), in collaboration with the US Embassy in Algiers, is organizing the forum “Driving Innovation through Strategic US-Algeria Collaboration” on Monday in Algiers. This high-level meeting brings together government officials, health experts, academics, economic leaders, and US pharmaceutical companies for a strategic dialogue on health innovation in Algeria. The chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Embassy, Ryan Palsrok, emphasizes the growing importance of the bilateral partnership and its concrete benefits for the Algerian healthcare system. In his opening remarks, he stresses the meeting's strategic dimension.

Algerian citizens gain access to cutting-edge treatments

The event aims to open up new opportunities for cooperation “to strengthen the partnership and commitment between our two countries.” Ryan Palsrok noted that the forum illustrates “the ability of American companies to deliver cutting-edge scientific and technological advances” in close collaboration with Algerian professionals, institutions, and ministries.

The diplomat also points out that the US commitment goes beyond trade. “This cooperation is mutually beneficial,” he says, emphasizing that “Algerian citizens have access to cutting-edge treatments, while US companies benefit from partnerships with talented Algerian doctors, researchers, and public decision-makers.”

In the broader context of “long-standing and multifaceted” bilateral relations, Ryan Palsrok notes a steady increase in exchanges in key sectors such as energy, agriculture, and technology. Finally, the chargé d'affaires expressed confidence in the future of the bilateral partnership, welcoming the “positive impact” of the forum and the continued growth of cooperation between the United States and Algeria.

AmCham praises Algeria's resilience on health issues

In his opening remarks, Warren Murdoch, representative of the American Chamber of Commerce in Algeria (AmCham), called for a strategic strengthening of cooperation between Algeria and the United States, emphasizing pharmaceutical innovation, regulatory stability, and intellectual property protection as key levers for a modern, resilient, and sustainable healthcare system. Warren Murdoch thus highlighted the strategic importance of economic dialogue between Algeria and the United States.

The speaker praised the driving role of AmCham Algeria, emphasizing that this organization plays a central role “in strengthening economic relations and promoting quality dialogue between American companies and Algerian institutions,” he said.

Warren Murdoch explains that the meetings reflect a shared ambition, namely “to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem in Algeria through responsible, sustainable, world-class pharmaceutical innovation.” He emphasizes that innovation can no longer be considered simply as a driver of economic growth.

It is, he says, “a pillar of national resilience in health” and a key driver of industrial competitiveness. He continues: “Modern healthcare systems rely on their ability to innovate and adapt to global scientific developments.” In this vein, he believes that the reforms undertaken in Algeria and the investments made to modernize the healthcare system constitute “promising foundations” for accelerating scientific progress and strengthening local capacities.

These efforts, he adds, “pave the way for sustainable skills development and better integration of Algeria into global value chains.” Murdoch also emphasizes the need for a stable, predictable operating environment to ensure sustainable innovation. Long-term investments, he stresses, “depend on clarity, transparency, and consistency in regulatory frameworks.” However, he acknowledges and welcomes the authorities' ongoing efforts to consolidate these fundamentals, while reaffirming AmCham's commitment to actively contributing to this dynamic.
