Gas turbines manufactured in Algeria: A first batch delivered to Iraq

news-detail

Sonelgaz Group subsidiary, located in Ain Yagout (Batna) area, announced in a press release “the signing of a contract to export two GE 9F.04 gas turbines, two alternators, two Mark VI type control systems and their modules and auxiliaries assembled and manufactured in our premises in Algeria to a customer in the Middle East.”

“These turbines will be able to run on both natural gas and liquid fuel, and are expected to produce up to 500 MW of electricity once operational,” it added.

The deal was an important milestone, as “it is the first time that end-to-end high-power gas turbines manufactured in Africa will be exported from the continent.” In recent hours, another announcement has been made, that of the delivery to Iraq of the first batch of gas and steam turbines.

According to our information, the cost of these turbines is approximately $112 million.

General Electric Algeria Turbines is already preparing to export more batches of similar gas turbines, and this time it might not be just to Iraq.
