Tosyali Algérie, a subsidiary of the Turkish group Tosyali Holding, has launched the production of high-value-added hot-rolled steel coils in Bethioua (Oran), for several key sectors including automotive, construction, energy and agriculture. With an annual capacity of 4 million tonnes and state-of-the-art equipment compliant with Industry 4.0 standards, the plant can produce 500 different types of steel. This development brings the total capacity of the steel complex to over 7 million tonnes per year, placing Tosyali at the forefront of the national sector, far ahead of the country's current total production (4.4 million tonnes). This ramp-up is part of the government's industrial sovereignty strategy, which aims to lower the import bill and boost exports. Already present in over 40 countries, Tosyali now covers a significant share of local needs, while developing an integrated industrial model, from ore reduction to delivery, which is favoured by the proximity of the port of Arzew. The forthcoming exploitation of the Gara Djebilet iron ore deposit could further enhance this dynamic.
