The Minister announced the launch of a bluefin tuna fattening farm at the port of Sidi Youchââ, capable of producing 950 tons, which could bring in $10 million in exports. Algeria's fishing quota for bluefin tuna is 2,064 tons.

Last year, bluefin tuna exports brought in between $25 and $27 million. The minister stated that they would support the investor in ensuring local tuna production is available all year round while seeking to reduce taxes for fishing vessels.

The port of Sidi Youchââ is a hub for deep-sea fishing. The government plans to explore new fishing zones and develop a strategy to strengthen the fishing fleet, with the construction of 15 shipbuilding sites.

Currently, 11 fishing vessels are under construction, and the government plans to import vessels over 40 meters to strengthen the fleet, which is in line with the President's directives.

The Minister oversaw a meeting on maritime safety and accident prevention, renewed partnerships with the University of Tlemcen and other entities, and honoured the shipwreck victims in June.
