Sogral reports a 160% increase in online ticket sales in 2025

This increase can be explained by the growing interest in the application thanks to its ease of use and the expansion of its scope of use in 2025, covering 60 bus stations across the country, after having been limited to a small number of stations in its early stages, according to explanations provided by the Algerian Bus Station Operating Company (Sogral) in its report.

This generalisation has brought passenger services closer together in several wilayas, enabling passengers to purchase their tickets easily without moving to station ticket offices beforehand.

Digital features for travellers

The Mahatati app also allows users to view the schedule of available trips, choose their desired destination and timetable, reserve their seats, and pay for tickets securely online, receiving a digital ticket that can be presented directly upon boarding.

The app also provides real-time journey information, enabling passengers to better plan their journeys, particularly during peak times and busy seasons.

In terms of stations with the highest online ticket sales, Algiers ranks first, followed by Jijel, Tlemcen, Annaba, Mostaganem, Béchar, Biskra, Tébessa, Ouargla and Batna, reflecting the gradual spread of electronic payment and the use of smart applications across the country, according to Sogral's report.

A strategy for modernising land transport

The launch of the Mahatati app is part of efforts to modernise the land passenger transport sector by adopting digitalisation as a strategic choice to improve service quality and facilitate administrative procedures for the benefit of citizens.

This initiative also aims to reduce pressure on ticket station offices and limit queues, particularly during holidays and national and religious festivals.

Furthermore, the Mahatati app is a concrete step towards increasing transparency in ticket sales and ensuring better monitoring of booking operations, in addition to providing an accurate database on travel movements between provinces, which will improve planning and enable supply to be adapted to actual demand on the various routes.

Taxi Safe, a new step towards smart mobility

Sogral launched the Mahatati app in early 2023, before the second app called Taxi Safe last July, which allows users to order a licensed taxi.

This application applies exclusively to urban and inter-wilaya taxis operating within the regulatory and legal framework and subject to a technical inspection every six months.

The app also allows users to locate themselves on a map, track the taxi's location, view the route, and view the estimated arrival time. It also provides information about the driver and their vehicle, as well as user reviews of the service provided quality.
