The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hamid Bensaâd, and the FAO Representative in Algeria, Irina Buttoud, signed the Country Programming Framework (CPP) between them, attended by several other ministers and representatives of various ministries (Environment, Foreign Affairs, Industry, Trade, etc.).

The CPP signed is the third of its kind between Algeria and FAO. It defines the strategic partnership priorities for 2023, according to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The CPP resulted from the collaboration of several ministries, which defined the key areas and objectives of the partnership in areas of importance to Algeria.

The partnership's priorities include improving agricultural production, developing value chains, sustainable management of natural resources, addressing the effects of climate change, and developing strategies for veterinary health, particularly the prevention of animal diseases linked to climate change.

The CPP aims to support national programmes and strategies by introducing innovative practices and applying international standards, to be implemented over the next four years.
