This initiative is part of Schneider Electric's celebrations marking 60 years of presence in Algeria.
Annual production of 2,000 specific cells and 5,000 standard cells
This initiative also marks a milestone in 25 years of local production at the Sidi Rached site, where innovation and advanced technology are key. The invited journalists were able to tour the production lines, observe the highly automated processes and discover how digitalisation, energy efficiency and international quality standards are integrated. During the visit, site managers highlighted the training, skills development and local talent promotion programmes, reiterating that human capital remains at the heart of the group's strategy.
The Sidi Rached site is not just an industrial unit: it is a veritable ecosystem, combining technological innovation, the creation of skilled jobs and the transfer of know-how. Covering an area of two hectares, the factory has an annual production capacity of 2,000 specific cells and 5,000 standard cells, meeting quality and certification standards.
Continuous adaptation to technological developments
A sign of effective management, digitalisation structures work organisation, optimises production flows and guarantees product traceability and reliability. There is also the growing integration of digital solutions and artificial intelligence, enabling better equipment supervision, predictive maintenance and continuous energy optimisation.
Through Aveva's software solutions (3D design, industrial data management) for its customers, Schneider Electric is accelerating the digital transition of industrial sites and supporting its partners towards a smarter and more sustainable industry. Note: Schneider Electric acquired Aveva, a British industrial software brand, finalising the transaction in January 2023 and becoming the 100% owner. The company places particular importance on continuing education, provided in a high-level learning environment for technicians and engineers. This approach ensures that skills are constantly adapted to rapid technological developments in the sector.
Nearly 40% integration
Today, the group operates two industrial units, in Tipasa and Sidi Bel Abbès, with a workforce of over 200 employees, as well as a national distribution centre serving more than 50 partners across the country. The group also relies on a national training centre, which supports employees every year, and four centres of excellence dedicated to the transfer of energy management expertise.
With a unit dedicated to strategic projects and a 100% Algerian design office, Schneider Electric Algeria has earned the trust of partners operating in key sectors: water, oil and gas, healthcare, sports infrastructure, power plants, rail, data centres and other strategic areas. In addition, the company is positioning itself for new projects, ranging from desalination to refining and hospital construction, while waging a relentless war on counterfeiting. The result: counterfeit products of the brand are virtually non-existent on the Algerian market. The pure product integration rate is around 40%. Engineering is provided at a rate of 80%, while service activities are handled entirely locally at 100%.
