The official launch of this initiative took place on 7 April at a pharmacy in Ouled Djellal, presided over by the Minister for the Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr Ouacim Kouidri. The ceremony was attended by the Chief Executive of the Saidal Group, Professor Mourad Belkhelfa, the Wali of Ouled Djellal, Dehimi Abderrahmane, and several representatives of the local authorities.
The choice of this date is no coincidence. Coinciding with World Health Day, this event highlights the Saidal Group’s commitment to equitable and universal access to healthcare.
A new, citizen-centred model for pharmacies
Going beyond their traditional role, ‘Saidalyat Saidal’ pharmacies position themselves as genuine local health hubs. They are part of an innovative approach that places the public at the heart of their priorities, with a particular focus on listening, providing support and promoting prevention.
This national network is organised into nine regional business units, based in Algiers, Laghouat, Tizi Ouzou, Constantine, Setif, Annaba, Biskra, Mostaganem and Oran. This structure ensures extensive coverage across all 69 provinces of the country. Travel guides and travel journals.
A nationwide roll-out to support priority areas
To date, the ‘Saidalyat Saidal’ network comprises 829 operational pharmacies. A phased programme to reopen closed pharmacies is also underway, with the aim of strengthening local healthcare provision, particularly in underserved areas, rural regions and the Deep South.
True to their public service mission, these pharmacies do more than simply dispense medicines. They also offer free health services, preventive care and tailored pharmaceutical support, particularly for patients with chronic conditions and vulnerable groups.
A strategic lever for the Saidal Group
This network also serves as a key strategic asset for the Saidal Group. It helps to strengthen the Group’s distribution network whilst facilitating direct access for the public to pharmaceutical products, whether produced domestically or by other manufacturers.
With the launch of ‘Saidalyat Saidal’, the Saidal Group is thus reaffirming its commitment to playing an active role in building a more accessible, equitable and efficient healthcare system in Algeria.
