Following the Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb, two government members visited SAFEX, where the 33rd edition of the Algerian Production Fair has been held since December 18. They were the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, and the Minister of Domestic Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdellatif, who visited several stands to gather feedback from operators, to find out about the concerns of those involved in the economic sphere.
Ensuring balance between supply and demand
The ministerial delegation visited numerous stands, including those of Tafadis Madar, SIM, the Benhamadi Group, El Mordjene, L'Or Blanc, Bimo, La Belle, Afia, Amour, Agri-food, Soummam, Hayat, Cevital, Chocolatti and Formadja. The visit also extended to another pavilion bringing together financial institutions and companies such as BNA, the National Investment Fund, CPA, BEA, Amir Clean, Swalis, Aigle, Life, and Amalfi. At each stop, exhibitors explained their situation, presented their grievances, and, above all, reassured ministers about the national market's ability to meet demand, particularly during the Ramadan.
At the Madar Group's Tafadis stand, discussions focused on the company's presence in the domestic market and its distribution strategy. Representatives explained to the two ministers that the brand's products are available nationwide, including in less well-served areas. The company strives to maintain a constant balance between supply and demand, while launching new products, including kilo-sized packaging, intended to be available on store shelves during Ramadan. A clear commitment was expressed: to ensure the availability of products in sufficient quantities.
At the Benhamadi Group stand, the company representative described the visit by the two ministers as an opportunity for constructive dialogue. Discussions focused on production capacity, existing facilities and constraints related to product use, particularly in light of informal practices and restrictions. The company also highlighted its efforts to make its products available to the entire population, despite the challenges it faces.
El Mordjene: innovation and ambition in exports
At the El Mordjene stand, the export director and company spokesperson presented ministers with a new product recently launched: a paste made from local ingredients, particularly peanuts, which are used in large quantities in its composition. Consumer feedback, gathered directly at the trade fair, is considered very positive. The company aims to position this product for export by 2026, while consolidating its presence on the domestic market.
At Chocolatti, the emphasis is on the role of government support in encouraging economic operators. Managers were keen to reassure the two ministers of their commitment to complying with standards and closely monitoring legislative developments, with a view to benefiting from financial support measures. The objective is clear: to offer Algerian consumers a product that meets international standards, while investing in human resources and expertise.
Throughout the visit, discussions were marked by an atmosphere of dialogue and closeness. The ministers listened attentively to explanations, asking questions about the nature of the products on display and the involvement of operators in promoting Algerian products. This ministerial visit is part of an initiative to monitor and support national producers, at the very heart of a trade fair that aims to showcase Algerian expertise and provide a meeting place for institutions, businesses and consumers.
