With 50 pages in a bilingual edition, this new publication does more than take stock; it documents, with figures and images, the profound transformation of a sovereign infrastructure now focused on global performance.
The tone is set right from the editorial. Written by Abdelhamid Boulaam, Managing Director of EPAL, the message is clear: "The port of Algiers is taking off with new dynamism and exceptional results."
Mr Boulaam sees this as a successful overall strategy, based on the recommissioning of four quays that meet international standards and, above all, the adoption of a continuous working system (24 hours a day). This structural reorganisation has enabled Algiers' infrastructure to establish itself as a key logistics hub in the Mediterranean.
The front page of this issue covers a major event: the inauguration of Quay No. 18 and its platform by the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport. This inspection visit symbolises the public authorities' interest in modernising the port facilities.
With this modernisation in mind, the "Events" section highlights Algeria's technological roots with the launch of the "Medusa" submarine optical fibre cable system. At the same time, the "Logistics" section details enhance EPAL's handling equipment.
The magazine also reflects the intense activity at the port. The “Delegations” section reports on the constant stream of foreign experts and partners: a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), American experts, counterparts from the Spanish port of Castellón, and representatives from Slovenia, Poland, and Bengal. The article on the Interministerial Committee for Maritime Safety visit confirms that economic openness goes hand in hand with increased security vigilance.
