Protection of Algerian trademarks: towards the development of a national strategy

A national strategy for the Algerian trademark protection, both inside and outside the country, is currently being drawn up, said Ahmed Ali Salah, Director of Civil Affairs and the State Seal at the Ministry of Justice, in Sétif on Saturday.

Algeria: Towards a national strategy to combat trademark counterfeiting

At a national seminar on combating trademark counterfeiting, held in Sétif in partnership with INAPI and WIPO, it was announced that an interministerial commission is drawing up a national strategy to protect Algerian trademarks. This initiative guarantees effective legal protection and prevents counterfeiting, inside and outside the country.

The central official stressed that Algerian legislation, aligned with international conventions, provides a solid framework for dealing with counterfeiting cases. Specialized commercial courts play a key role in resolving disputes, with the support of various institutional players and a dedicated inter-ministerial committee.
