Annaba mineral port: stepping up the pace

Although work on extending the port of Annaba and building the new ore quay is proceeding steadily, efforts still need to be stepped up.

During a visit to the Annaba phosphate port construction site, Wali Abdelkader Djellaoui called for rapid progress, saying that all obstacles had been overcome. This strategic project, led by the GCCM consortium, involves CHEC (72.26%), Cosider TP (14.05%) and Meditram (13.69%). It represents an investment of over DZD 89 billion and is expected to be completed within 24 months.

 

Key features of the project

 

*Total area: 82 hectares;

-Quay length: 1600 metres with a draft of 16 metres;

-Export capacity: 7-million-ton phosphate per year;

-Social impact: Creation of 2,075 jobs.

 

Once operational, this port will support phosphate exports as part of the Integrated Phosphate Project, thereby promoting local and national economic growth.
