Fishing: Algerian Vessels Authorized to Access Mauritanian Fisheries Resources

Algerian vessels are now authorized to access fisheries resources in Mauritanian fishing zones under an agreement signed on Tuesday during the 20th session of the High-Level Algerian-Mauritanian Joint Commission on Cooperation.

The agreement was signed by the Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yacine Oualid, and the Mauritanian Minister for Fisheries and Maritime and Port Infrastructure, Mokhtar Ould Ahmed Bousseif.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, this agreement will also enable Algerian vessels to obtain fishing licences and operate under them. The memorandum of understanding also provides for the strengthening of scientific cooperation in fisheries and aquaculture.
