Fishing: end of the biological rest period

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Fishing and Halieutic Production announced the end of the biological rest period, which ran from 1 June to 30 September.

Trawlers were prohibited from using pelagic, semi-pelagic and bottom trawls during this period, according to the press release.

The Ministry took the opportunity to thank the professionals and trawler owners who had shown a ‘high sense of civic-mindedness’ by refraining from fishing in the 3 nautical mile zone to preserve the sustainability of fish stocks and wished them a successful fishing season.
