Ömer Bolat, Turkish Trade Minister: “Algeria is our second largest trading partner in Africa”

The Turkish-Algerian Business and Investment Forum opened this Saturday, November 23, in Istanbul, sponsored by the Algerian Embassy in Ankara and the Algerian Consulate General.

Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and Algerian Ambassador to Turkey Amar Belani inaugurated the economic event. Ömer Bolat welcomed 175 Algerian businessmen and underlined the importance of Algeria for Turkish investment, with some 1,500 Turkish companies operating in Algeria for investment worth $6 billion.


He expressed the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion, noting the economic potential of both countries to achieve this goal. He thanked the Business Forum for its efforts and hoped it would be useful.

Bolat also mentioned the progress of the negotiations for a preferential agreement between the two countries and recalled the historic visits of Presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Abdelmadjid Tebboune, which have strengthened bilateral relations. Finally, he reiterated Turkey's willingness to achieve economic growth objectives with Algeria.
