NAPEC 2024: Arkab receives officials from Equinor, Cepsa and Chevron

On the eve of the 12th edition of the Africa and Mediterranean Energy and Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference, NAPEC 2024, in Oran, the Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, received several delegations from major European and American companies on Sunday.

The Ministry's press release reveals that Minister Arkab received the Norwegian Ambassador, Mrs. Thérèse Locle Gesell, as well as a delegation from the Norwegian energy group Equinor. Discussions focused on strengthening cooperative relations in the hydrocarbons sector, and on the partnership already established between Sonatrach and Equinor.

The minister then met with Mr. Martin Wetzlar, CEO of Cepsa, to discuss cooperative relations between Sonatrach and the Spanish company. The two parties highlighted the excellence of their collaboration, particularly in the field of fuels and the development of green hydrogen.

Mr. Arkab also spoke with a delegation from Chevron, led by Liz Schwartz. They discussed the current state of relations between Sonatrach and Chevron, especially after the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

Discussions also focused on the prospects for developing hydrocarbon resources in the Ahanat and Berkin basins. Finally, both parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of hydrocarbon exploration and development.
