Ministry of Trade-SNAPO: New amendments cancelled

Late yesterday afternoon, President of the Syndicat national des pharmaciens d'officine (Snapo), Dr Merghemi Karim, welcomed the happy compromise reached at his delegation's meeting with the Minister of Trade, held at the Ministry's headquarters.

According to the President of Snapo: "The Minister for Trade has decided to cancel the new amendments adopted by the Nomenclature of Economic Activities (NAE) commission, prohibiting dispensing pharmacists from providing certain health-related services, such as medical analyses and examinations, until the implementing regulations for the new health law are published". 


Last week, the Director General for the Regulation and Organisation of Activities at the Ministry of Trade, questioned in this context by APS, pointed out that this is "legally founded", in accordance with "correspondence from the Ministry of Health in 2015, setting out the list of activities ineligible for registration on the commercial register, including that of medical analysis laboratories, which prevents traders registered on the commercial register, such as pharmacists, from carrying out this activity. 


However, in a press release issued at the end of an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee held on Wednesday evening in Algiers, Snapo firmly rejected this proposal. "The surprise changes decided by the Nomenclature des Activités Economiques (NAE) commission, which affected the pharmaceutical activity in its trade register, do not comply with either the laws of the Republic or the regulations governing the regulated activity of the dispensing pharmacy", according to Snapo, which yesterday thanked the Minister of Trade "for having re-established the regulated professional activity of dispensing pharmacists by favouring dialogue and consultation with the party concerned, in this case Snapo".
