The Blue Economy, Fisheries and Aquaculture program is organizing a BlueTech forum in Algiers on integrating digital technologies in the maritime economy. A strategic study was presented, highlighting technological levers for optimizing the management of fisheries resources and modernizing the port logistics chain.

 

The event is part of the government's policy to generalize digitalization. According to Chanez Zouadi, program director, Algeria has a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem with 73 innovative projects in 2024 in fishing, aquaculture, and associated technologies, it is not yet taking full advantage of the digital solutions available.

The study underlines that digital transformation will enhance efficiency, the marine sector safety and sustainability. Artificial intelligence could be used to prevent overfishing, monitor fish stocks, and improve water quality. Technological innovation will also contribute to better management of maritime traffic and accident prevention, thanks in particular to drones and advanced surveillance systems.

 

Funded by the European Union, the program aims to improve the resilience and competitiveness of coastal communities, support strategic industries and encourage job creation in fishing and aquaculture.
