In a joint statement with his Lebanese counterpart, Joseph Aoun, who is on an official visit to Algeria, President Tebboune described the visit as an "important step" in strengthening fraternal ties between the two countries, stressing that it represented an opportunity to give a new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
The talks between the two Heads of State examined the main issues on the bilateral agenda. They were marked, according to President Tebboune, by a "constructive and fruitful" spirit, with a convergence of views on several issues, notably economic.
The two parties agreed to work towards holding, as soon as possible, the first session of the Algerian-Lebanese Joint Committee, which is set to become a structuring framework for bilateral cooperation, through the relaunch of the Joint Business Council and greater involvement of economic operators.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic reiterated Algeria's strong and unwavering support for Lebanon, particularly regarding the preservation of its security, stability, and sovereignty. He recalled Algeria's efforts within the United Nations Security Council to put an end to Israeli violations of Lebanese territory, as well as its support for the renewal of UNIFIL's mandate.
