The Minister of Labor receives the Beninese Minister of SMEs

ALGIERS - The Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Mr. Fayçal Bentaleb, received the Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises and Employment Promotion of the Republic of Benin, Mr. Modeste Kérékou, on Saturday in Algiers, alongside his participation in the 3rd edition of the African Start-up Conference, according to a Ministry press release.

Algerian-Beninese meeting: closer collaboration to promote employment and reduce unemployment

At the Ministry of Labor head office, Minister Bentaleb highlighted a meeting Algeria's efforts to stimulate employment and combat unemployment. He presented national initiatives, such as unemployment benefits for young people looking for their first job, skills training programs, and measures to encourage entrepreneurship, including leave to set up a business.

Mr Bentaleb also emphasized the government's commitment to supporting SMEs and anticipating the impact of artificial intelligence on the labour market. He recalled that the Algerian social security system covers nine risks stipulated by the ILO, benefiting 30 million citizens.

Benin's Minister of SMEs and Employment praised the Algerian experience, wishing to strengthen bilateral cooperation and draw on Algerian expertise.

Both parties reaffirmed their desire to consolidate their historic relations and promote joint initiatives for sustainable development in Africa.
