During a plenary session at the National People's Assembly, the minister highlighted the contribution of the public industrial and commercial sector to the national economy, with a turnover of nearly 562.9 billion dinars and over 3.38 billion dinars in exports last year. Employing around 101,000 workers, this sector has undergone major structural reforms, including the reorganisation of public industrial enterprises into eight holding companies and two industrial groups, plus various shareholdings.

Concerning industrial units recovered as part of the fight against corruption, 92 confiscated units have been integrated into the public portfolio: 62 resumed operations in 2024-2025, 22 will be relaunched this year and eight others in 2027.

The minister also mentioned the automotive sector, recalling the authorisation to import vehicles less than three years old and the granting of approvals to 16 manufacturers (vehicles, motorcycles, agricultural equipment, lorries and tractors), including Stellantis for the production of Fiat. Preliminary licences have been granted for the manufacture of Chery and Hyundai brands, pending the finalisation of projects, with the forthcoming announcement of two other operators.
