Held at the group's headquarters, Mr Belhadj's meeting with the delegation led by Pupuk Indonesia CEO Mr Rahmad Pribadi took place in the presence of the CEO of the Algerian phosphate mining company Somiphos, a subsidiary of the Sonarem group, Mr Mokhtar Lakhal, as well as executives from both parties, according to a statement from the group. nbsp;
This meeting follows Tuesday's signing of a memorandum of understanding between Somiphos and Pupuk Indonesia, aimed at exploring and developing opportunities for cooperation in the phosphate sector, particularly through the supply of Algerian phosphate to the Indonesian group and the development of projects related to products derived from this strategic resource.
On this occasion, both parties emphasised the importance of moving from the agreement phase to the implementation phase, in particular by strengthening the exchange of expertise and data, and examining both parties' investment proposals, thereby contributing to the creation of added value and support for the phosphate processing industries, according to the statement.
In this vein, Mr Belhadj reiterated Sonarem's commitment to "supporting strategic partnerships with an industrial and investment dimension, in line with the government's vision of developing national mineral resources, diversifying the economy and strengthening Algeria's position as a reliable partner in global production chains". nbsp;
For his part, Mr Pribadi expressed his company's keen interest in Algeria's abundant mining potential, affirming his willingness to move forward in developing a practical and sustainable partnership with Sonarem, particularly in the areas of phosphate and the fertiliser industry, serving the common interests of both countries and contributing to strengthening food and industrial security in the medium and long term, the statement concluded.
