The CEO of the Skikda Port Authority (EPS), Samir Boudjemaâ, said that the ship's docking at berth number 8 in the port of Skikda is the result of the implementation of this route, agreed upon during a recent meeting with officials from the Spanish shipping company Marguisa, representing the global shipping giant HMM.
Early launch of the shipping line
The Skikda Port Authority mobilized the material and human resources necessary for loading and unloading operations to ensure efficient handling in accordance with the terms of service agreed with its Spanish partner. The EPS's managing director emphasized in a statement to APS that the effective launch of this shipping line "took place ahead of schedule (January 2026) due to its commercial and logistical importance and market needs."
Following a working session held at its headquarters, EPS announced an agreement with the Spanish company Marguisa to open a regular weekly commercial shipping line for container transport between the ports of Skikda and Valencia, scheduled to enter service in early January 2026 with one trip per week, thereby strengthening the position of the port of Skikda as a strategic logistics hub in the Mediterranean basin, the same official recalled.
The Spanish company Marguisa also announced that this regular service will in future be operated by two ships dedicated to container transport, providing a direct and rapid connection. The port of Skikda is now a "central logistics hub" in eastern Algeria, he emphasized.
