Following an agreement signed between the Algerian Ministry of Agriculture and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), Algeria will import dairy cows from the USA. Elizabeth Moore Aubin, the US ambassador to Algeria, welcomed the partnership, pointing out that it will boost the production of dairy products such as milk, yoghurt and cheese.

Algerian-American cooperation has already borne fruit with the supply of US-bred bull semen for use in Algerian agricultural complexes such as Groupe Boussouf in Mila. This cooperation is based on the transfer of American research and know-how in bovine genetics to improve the Algerian dairy industry.
