Industry: Consultations for the implementation of the infant milk production project

At a consultation meeting chaired by Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zeghdar, he highlighted that the national market needed to invest in this vital area and replace powdered milk imported from European countries with a locally produced product, considering infant milk to be a ‘strategically sensitive’ industrial product.

This consultation meeting is taking place in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to immediately start the implementation of the project for the construction of a complex specialized in the production of infant milk, which was presented to the Government Council on 7 July, according to the same source.

These consultations will be followed by a second step which will consist in "involving all economic actors and operators in the realization of an integrated complex through a strong partnership between the public and private sectors, particularly with the importers of milk powder among the world's leading brands active in this strategic area in Algeria, and thus bring added value to the national economy, according to the same source.

Algeria imports 100% of this substance from European countries, concludes the press release.
