Giplait commissions a production unit in Bouira

On Sunday, a milk production unit belonging to the Groupe industriel des productions laitières (Giplait) (Dairy production industrial group), with a capacity of over 250,000 litres/day, went into production in Bouira, following its inauguration by the CEO of the state-owned Group, Samah Lahlouh.

Mrs Lahlouh, CEO of Giplait, inaugurated a new milk production unit in a wilaya, accompanied by local officials. With a production capacity of 250,000 litres per day, the plant aims to meet local and regional demand for milk.

This project is part of the government's drive to develop the milk industry, guarantee a permanent supply of basic products, and create 120 120 local jobs. The unit currently produces 80,000 litres/day, with a gradual increase to 250,000 litres planned within a month.


Ms Lahlouh also mentioned the construction of a giant dairy in Rouiba (Algiers), with a capacity of one million litres/day. Billed as the largest in Africa, the project will be operational before Ramadan.
