Future Minerals Forum: Algeria outlines its mining strategy!

Meeting in Riadh, Algeria's Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, in charge of Mining, Karima Tafer, took part yesterday in the 4th International Ministerial Meeting of Ministers of Mines as part of the International Mining Congress. The meeting was attended by the Managing Director of the Sonarem industrial mining group, Belkacem Soltani, and other executives.

The meeting was attended by representatives from over 86 countries, including 16 G20 countries, and 50 official and non-governmental international organizations and trade unions.

 

Bendar Ben Ibrahim El-Kherif, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Industry and Mineral Wealth, was on hand for the inauguration, reassuring the importance of international cooperation in tackling challenges and encouraging investment in infrastructure and new techniques.

 

In her presentation, the Secretary of State outlined Algeria's mining sector development program, underlining the country's determination and strategy to develop its mining sector to expand investment in this sector sustainably, within a framework of balance between industrial development and respect for ecological standards.

 

During the meeting, several important initiatives were discussed to strengthen relationships between producer and consumer countries and to reinforce technological invention in this sector.
