Exxon, Chevron, Oxy, Total, Eni... will be present at Napec 2024. Gas: big announcements expected in Oran
Sonatrach, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Oxy, Baker Hughes, TotalEnergies, Harbour Energy, Equinor, ENI, etc., major players on the world energy market will meet in Oran for the North Africa Energy & Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference (Napec) from 14 to 16 October.
This international event is taking place in a global context faced with the need for stability in the fossil fuel market and the success of the energy transition. So, it's a question of meeting these new challenges, which are at the forefront of Algerian and global energy policy for the years to come, to reach a ‘balance between hydrocarbons and clean energies: for an efficient energy mix’. As a key energy player in the international energy market, Algeria has set its sights on establishing lasting strategic partnerships to consolidate its role in the global energy transition. The presence of international energy giants at this event, the biggest on the continent, confirms ‘the renewed interest shown in the Algerian market and underlines not only its strategic potential but also its capacity to attract the most ambitious investments, thus ensuring a sustainable and prosperous energy future’, reads the organizers’ press release.
‘Several large-scale events
Throughout the three days of debates and discussions, participants will discuss various issues relating to the global energy market, while highlighting the complementarity between hydrocarbons and clean energies to meet people's energy needs, considering the climate aspect. Algeria, which is committed to diversifying its energy mix on several fronts, is increasingly attracting the attention of investors.
At a time when the energy transition is posing new challenges, Algeria offers a unique opportunity for investment in both traditional hydrocarbons and clean energy. An increasing number of global energy players are looking to partner with Algeria to explore and develop innovative exploration and production projects, reads the press release. These meetings are therefore the ideal opportunity for rapprochement, strengthening cooperation and international partnerships in the energy sector. "Several major events will take place in parallel with Napec 2024, with the announcement of major strategic partnerships and the conclusion of international, bilateral and multilateral cooperation agreements. These events will mark decisive and historic milestones for the future of the energy sector, both in Algeria and globally," adds the same source.
Hydrogen, the new world energy map
In addition to the current challenge facing the world market, which is to improve the production of fossil fuels, the energy of the future will also be discussed during these meetings. Green hydrogen, for which a market is beginning to emerge, is on the agenda for discussion of possible partnership projects. "The growing role of hydrogen as a key vector in this transition will also be at the centre of international discussions and partnerships. This essential element of the energy transition is attracting growing interest from global players, paving the way for strategic collaborations and new investment opportunities. The country is attracting more and more international partners who want to join its ambitious projects aimed at accelerating the energy transition on a global scale," says the press release.
