Energy: Algeria and Côte d'Ivoire to sign memorandum of understanding soon

Algeria and Cote d'Ivoire will sign a memorandum of understanding in the next few days, drawn up by a joint working group which has just completed its work, announced the Ministry of Energy and Mines in a press release.

The Algerian Energy Minister, Mohamed Arkab, held a videoconference with his Ivorian counterpart, Mamadou Sankafoa Coulibaly, to finalise a cooperation agreement on energy and mining between Algeria and Côte d'Ivoire. The meeting allowed the two sides to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the energy, hydrocarbons and mining sectors. Côte d'Ivoire expressed its interest in the expertise of Sonatrach and Sonelgaz, particularly in the areas of hydrocarbon exploration and production, refining, gas production and transport, petroleum product distribution, regulation and training.


The two parties also explored opportunities for cooperation in the production and transmission of electricity and the maintenance of electrical equipment. They also discussed joint mining projects, focusing on the exploration, extraction and processing of mineral resources. Finally, the Ivorian minister invited Sonatrach and Algerian companies to participate in the International Exhibition of Mining and Energy Resources (SIREXE), which will be held in Abidjan from 27 November to 2 December 2024.
