Eliminating intersections between rail lines and roads: ANESRIF launches several projects

The Agence Nationale des Études et du Suivi de la Réalisation des Investissements Ferroviaires (ANESRIF) (National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of Railway Investment) is launching several projects to eliminate intersections between rail lines and roads. Thus, 417 bridges and tunnels were built to eliminate intersections with the road network. For the same reasons, 270 engineering structures were built to double the length of railroad lines.

The Agency has launched two projects to eliminate crossings between railway lines and road networks. The first project concerns the removal of level crossings on the northern line connecting the wilaya of Annaba with the wilaya of Tlemcen. The Agency has already constructed 49 civil engineering structures (bridges and tunnels) out of 78 planned. Work on the remaining 19 structures will start once the contractual procedures are finalized. These works are spread over several wilayas, including Algiers, Blida, Aïn Defla and other wilayas.

ANESRIF is constructing 16 civil engineering works (bridges and tunnels) out of 40 planned. Work on the remaining 24 structures will begin as soon as the contractual procedures have been completed. These projects concern crossroads in wilayas such as Béchar, Naâma, Sidi Bel Abbès, Aïn Témouchent, Souk Ahras, Annaba and others, to ensure optimum safety for road and rail users.
