Djebel El-Onk-Oued Kebrit mining railway line: Renovation works reached 43%

Talking to the APS news agency, Mr. Kerif stated that 43% of the 176 km long mining line between Djebel El-Onk and Oued Kebrit has been renovated and work is continuing under "good conditions" under the supervision of the National Agency for Studies and Monitoring of the Implementation of Railway Investments (Anesrif).

This "strategic project" is part of the preparation for the launch of the megaproject for the extraction and transformation of phosphate in the region of Bled El Hedba (South of Tebessa).

In the long term, it will increase the phosphate transport capacity to the various industrial units, in addition to securing, modernizing, and electrifying this line and creating jobs for young people in the region, he continued.

The project was divided into two parts: the first between Djebel El Onk and the Tébessa station for 107 km and the second between the Tébessa station and Oued Kebrit for 69 km, the local official said.
