The Algerian ambassador to Italy, Mohamed Khelifi, recently discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, highlighting the significant progress made and the prospects for the future, specifying that "many Italian companies want to invest in Algeria", highlighting Italy's growing interest in the Algerian market.

The Algerian Ambassador to Italy highlighted President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's commitment to improving the business climate and diversifying the economy through reforms that emphasise transparency, anti-corruption efforts and good governance. Algeria is becoming an important destination for foreign investment, particularly in the agricultural, mining, chemical and automotive sectors.

Bilateral relations between Algeria and Italy extend beyond the energy sector, given that Algeria remains a key gas supplier. Both countries are also collaborating on green hydrogen projects. During the President's visit to Rome in 2022, the two nations reaffirmed their desire to expand their economic exchanges.


With an attractive investment code, competitive energy costs, a skilled workforce and a strategic location, Algeria is a favourable environment for Italian companies. An intergovernmental summit scheduled for early 2025 in Rome aims to strengthen cooperation, especially in agriculture and other strategic sectors, and consolidate the long-standing ties between the two nations.
