Cooperation: Turkey announces acceleration of negotiations on preferential trade agreement with Algeria

Turkish Trade Minister Omar Polat has announced that negotiations on a preferential trade agreement with Algeria, which began last year, will be accelerated.

Turkey and Algeria to strengthen economic relations at Istanbul Business Forum

At the Turkey-Algeria Business and Investment Forum in Istanbul, Mr Polat highlighted bilateral opportunities in investment, trade, financing, and transport. He described Algeria as Turkey's gateway to Africa, and Turkey as Algeria's gateway to Eurasia.

With 1,500 Turkish companies operating in Algeria and a total investment of $6 billion, Algeria is the leading African country for Turkish investment. Polat also praised Algeria's economic diversification strategy and efforts to attract foreign investment.

Trading is set to increase from $6.3 billion in 2023 to $7 billion in the short term and $10 billion in the medium term.
