According to a Ministry press release, at the High-Level Forum on AI Governance, chaired by China's Minister of Science and Technology, Noureddine Ouaddah delivered a speech in which he highlighted Algeria's considerable efforts in developing artificial intelligence and building an integrated digital ecosystem, while encouraging innovation and startups.
The Minister stressed the need to build a fair and equitable global framework to regulate this sensitive field. Such a framework must balance the interests of all and protect developing countries from a widening technological divide.
In his speech, Mr. Ouaddah recalled Algeria's pioneering experience in the region, notably through the launch of specialized colleges, the creation of the Conseil Supérieur de l'Intelligence Artificielle, and the integration of the AI theme at the African Startup Conference. He reaffirmed Algeria's commitment to playing a central role at the African and international levels.
The Minister also spoke at the opening of the "Forum on AI Policy, Dialogue and Cooperation", where he warned of the widening digital divide, particularly in developing countries. These nations, he stressed, are nonetheless home to a pool of young, skilled talent.
He called for genuine international cooperation to promote technology transfer and achieve inclusive, balanced development in this vital sector.
