In Touggourt, the 2024/2025 agricultural campaign plans to cultivate 1,160 hectares of wheat (both durum and soft) and 200 hectares of barley, marking an increase of 740 hectares compared to the previous season. Over 3,300 quintals of seeds and 11,144 quintals of agricultural inputs have been allocated to cereal farmers, along with enhanced equipment to boost yields.

The wali of Touggourt, Othmane Abdelaziz, emphasized the strategic importance of these crops in achieving food self-sufficiency and encouraged expanding cultivated areas.

The 10,000-hectare El-Keddachi agricultural perimeter, managed by Sonatrach, is a major investment in strategic crops and a key driver of agricultural development in the region.
