Béchar: a study for the construction of a tramway to be drawn up shortly

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, announced on Thursday that a study would soon be drawn up for a tramway project in Béchar, like the one in Ouargla, to improve traffic flow in the city.

During his visit to Béchar, President Tebboune announced the imminent introduction of streetcars in the city, joining the seven Algerian cities already equipped. He inaugurated the Béchar-Abadla railroad line (100 km), part of a larger project to Gara Djebilet (950 km). In the water sector, he launched a pumping station and a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 55,000 m³/day. In the steel industry, he laid the foundation stone for an iron ore concentrate and pellet production complex at Toumiat, linked to the Gara Djebilet operation. Finally, he launched the construction of the Béchar sports complex, comprising a 25,000-seat stadium, a semi-Olympic swimming pool and an athletics field.
