On the sidelines of an information day dedicated to local media, Bahloul clarified that "most of this quantity was directed to Tunisia", adding that efforts are currently being made to increase the export volume of this product and to find new foreign markets while ensuring that the needs of major local and national projects are met. Last year, SCIMAT's clinker exports reached 260,000 tons, destined for several countries in North-West Africa and Europe, recalled the same official, who specified that the company has invested more than two billion DA to replace the electric filter with another of more advanced technology for the sake of environmental protection. The information day organized on the occasion of the 38th anniversary of SCIMAT's start of operations was an opportunity to visit the company's various workshops and three quarries, with detailed explanations by SCIMAT technicians of the production phases of cement made from local raw materials.

A manoeuvre simulating incident response was also organized.

This initiative aims to raise awareness of SCIMAT's ability to supply cement to the local and national markets and its contribution to the national economy, as well as to promote communication between the company and media representatives and introduce them to the cement production process and the technical jargon of the sector," said Hayat Lazri, Communications Director, Marketing and Competitive Intelligence of the GICA Group. The Aïn Touta Cement Company (SCIMAT) has an annual production capacity of one million tons of cement and 600,000 tons of aggregates, covering the needs of more than seven wilayas in the country.
