Minister of Public Works, Lakhdar Rekhroukh, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the first 200 km of the Bechar-Tindouf-Gara Djebilet railway during an inspection visit to Bechar. He stressed the importance of keeping up the pace to complete this section by early 2025.

According to Cherif Grira, CEO of Cosider, the 96km Béchar-Abadla line is also scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025, with 94% progress on earthworks and 28% on welding. The Bechar station will be completed by the same date, supported by a new concrete sleeper production unit which recently increased its capacity to 1,500 units per day.

The ministers also announced the resumption of the Oran-Béchar railroad line, following repairs required due to the September floods. They ended their visit by meeting the heads of the companies involved in the project.
