Arkab presides over the appointment ceremony of Sonarem's new CEO

On Sunday in Algiers, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, appointed Belkacem Soltani as Chairman and CEO of the Sonarem Group, replacing Mohamed Sakhr Harami, according to a Ministry press release.

The ceremony to install Mr Soltani as the head of the Sonarem Group was held at the Ministry of Energy and Mines and attended by several industry officials, including members of the Group's General Meeting and Board of Directors, and industry executives.

 

The Minister underlined that this appointment is part of a new dynamic aimed at advancing major mining projects, such as the development of the Gara Djebilet iron mine, the Oued Amizour zinc and lead mine project and the Bled El Hadba and Oued Kebrit phosphate project.

 

He also highlighted Mr Soltani's experience as a board member from 2019, which will support the continuation of these projects and strengthen Sonarem's strategic role in developing the mining sector, from extraction to processing.

 

The Minister thanked the outgoing CEO, Mr Harami, for his efforts in launching several mining projects and wished Mr Soltani success in his new role. He encouraged him to present a clear vision for the group's future and to work hard to complete these important projects.

 

Mr Soltani, a mining engineer with over 32 years of experience, expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him. He pledged to work closely with Sonarem's teams to achieve the Group's goals and contribute to the country's economic development. His professional background combines technical expertise in mining with management skills in large-scale industrial projects.
