Arkab attends the ministerial meeting of the Global Fusion Energy Group in Italy on Wednesday

ALGIERS - On Wednesday in Rome (Italy), the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, will attend the ministerial meeting of the World Fusion Energy Group (WFEG) of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), according to a press release issued by the Ministry on Tuesday.

The meeting will be held at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will be attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Italy, the CEO of the Sonelgaz Group, and the Commissioner for Nuclear Energy. It will be co-chaired by the Italian Prime Minister and the Director General of the IAEA.


The meeting aims to exchange views on strategies for the development of fusion energy and to discuss issues related to the political, financial, and technological framework and international cooperation to meet global energy needs while reducing carbon emissions.


Several panels will be organized on topics such as "Fusion Energy: Status and Perspectives" and "International Cooperation and Public-Private Partnerships". These discussions will focus on progress and cooperation in the field of fusion energy.


The meeting will highlight progress in both the public and private sectors, cooperation between countries and industries, technological advances, and infrastructure development in the field of fusion energy.


The Italian government, which will hold the G7 presidency in 2024, is focused on the development of fusion energy science and technology. It is committed to promoting fusion energy research at the international level to meet the challenges of energy security and economic development.
