Ali Aoun: The import bill for anticancer drugs to be reduced by 400 million euros by 2025

The Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Ali Aoun, announced that Algeria had 213 drug production plants covering 75% of the country's needs in essential medicines.

At a press conference, the Minister of Health, Ali Aoun, announced that with the inauguration of the ANPP Central Laboratory, the production rate of anticancer drugs in Algeria will reach 85% by the end of 2024, thanks to six new plants, which will produce 70% of different types of anticancer drugs. In addition, three other plants are currently under construction, which should reduce the import bill for these drugs by 400 million euros by 2025. Drug consumption in Algeria is increasing by 15% a year, and measures are being put in place to facilitate pharmaceutical production. The Minister also stressed the importance of improving the distribution of medicines and assured us that the production of children's vaccines, a priority for the sector, will begin in 2025 with the SAIDAL Group.
