Algeria-Qatar: Opening of a new shipping line to boost trade

A new shipping line linking Algeria and Qatar has just been launched, facilitating the transport of goods and passengers between the two countries. This initiative, piloted by the Société Nationale de Transport Maritime (CNAN EL DJAZAIR), offers economic operators a direct connection between the ports of Algiers and Doha, as announced by the Agence Nationale de Promotion du Commerce Extérieure (Algex) (National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade) on its website.

A new shipping line linking Algiers to Doha has been launched to facilitate exporting of Algerian products to Qatar. This initiative is part of a drive to optimise lead times and increase the profitability of exports, announced by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in February 2022. Interested companies should contact CNAN EL DJAZAIR for more information.

This opening is part of a wider port development project in Algeria, including the extension of the port of Djen-Djen in Jijel, intended to become a regional hub connected to the rail network to boost trade with African countries, particularly Niger. At the same time, plans for maritime links with Mauritania, Tunisia and Libya are underway, as part of discussions between the presidents of the countries concerned.
