This initiative, led by the Confédération algérienne du Patronat (CAP) in collaboration with the Portuguese embassy economic mission, is part of a drive to consolidate bilateral economic relations.
Collaboration focused on innovation and diversification
In his opening address, Tahar Bouzid, CAP National President, stressed the need to give new impetus to the partnership between the two countries. "This event is taking place in a spirit of friendship and aims to deepen the economic and commercial relations built up over the years," he declared while calling for new synergies to be explored in various sectors.
Bouzid also highlighted CAP's strategic role in implementing national economic objectives. "As a government partner, we aspire to realize the economic ambitions set out in the program of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, particularly in terms of economic diversification and increased investment," he said.
A priority sector: healthcare
Both parties have identified the health sector as a strategic priority. João Neves da Costa, Portugal's ambassador to Algeria, underlined the importance of this field for both countries. "The 2020 pandemic has highlighted the importance of partnerships. With 1,400 health units undergoing renovation in Algeria, there is enormous potential for developing joint projects," he asserted.
For her part, Mostefaoui Fatima, President of the CAP National Health Federation, pointed out that this sector represents a unique opportunity for Portuguese companies. "We aim to strengthen health care through the development of training and maintenance, key areas for effective technology transfer", she explained.
A shared ambition for the future
Exchanges between Algerian and Portuguese companies aim to boost productive investment while reinforcing infrastructure and services. Finally, Tahar Bouzid expressed his optimism about this collaboration: "This first meeting marks, I am sure, the beginning of a new dynamic in our economic relations, in the service of diversification and mutual growth."
This strategic partnership augurs a promising future in healthcare and other key sectors, to strengthen economic exchanges between Algiers and Lisbon.
