Algeria-Portugal: Exploring opportunities for medical cooperation

The Minister of Health, Abdelhak Sayehi, held important talks with his Portuguese counterpart, Ana Paula Mertens, on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of health. The talks took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

According to the Ministry's press release, the talks focused on exploring opportunities for bilateral cooperation through the exchange of knowledge and expertise between the two countries.

 

Digitalization of the healthcare sector was one of the main topics discussed, the same source reported, underlining the need to adopt modern technologies to improve medical information management and facilitate access to health data quickly and efficiently, thus guaranteeing improved quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

 

In the same context, they also discussed the need to improve health coverage as part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure access to quality health services for all citizens, thereby contributing to improving the country's public health indicators.

 

The Minister concluded by stressing Algeria's commitment to continue its efforts to strengthen cooperation with various countries in the field of health, with an emphasis on the exchange of expertise and successful experiences. The aim is to respond to the aspirations of the population for better health care and a healthier future.
