Algeria-Egypt: Towards a stronger energy partnership

According to a Ministry press release, the Minister of State, and Minister of Energy, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, continued his meeting with the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mines, Mr. Karim Ibrahim, which began on Tuesday in Italy on the sidelines of the opening of the WTO Med Energy 2025 Conference.

According to the same source, the meeting focused on the historic and distinguished cooperative relations between the two countries, and new investment and partnership opportunities, particularly in energy, mining, and renewable energies.

 

"During the discussions, the two sides assessed the potential for cooperation in research and exploration, field development and operation, refining, petrochemicals and the marketing of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPGc), in addition to the development of green hydrogen. The importance of exploiting the opportunities available in the mining sector, particularly in the phosphate processing and fertilizer production industries, and of exchanging expertise and technical information in this vital field, was also highlighted," explains the same source.

 

On this occasion, Minister Arkab called on Egyptian companies to seize the partnership and investment opportunities offered by the new legislative frameworks for investment, hydrocarbons, and mining in Algeria, to strengthen bilateral cooperation and increase contributions of both parties to the economic development of both countries.

 

For his part, the Egyptian Minister expressed his satisfaction with the quality of fraternal relations between the two countries, hailing the dynamism they had witnessed, particularly following President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

 

"During the meeting, it was agreed to intensify dialogue and exchanges of visits between economic players in the two countries, and to work towards the implementation of joint projects based on a win-win principle, particularly in the fields of energy infrastructure, the processing of mineral resources and the construction of power generation and transformation plants," adds the press release.
