At the opening of the 2nd International Dates Exhibition in Algiers, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, M. Bensaâd, stressed that Algerian dates are exported to more than 90 countries thanks to their quality and diversity, with more than 1,000 varieties. To boost exports further the agricultural sector supports farmers with free date palms, irrigation aid and disease control. A national programme (2023-2027) aims to plant one million date palms on 174,000 hectares to address climate challenges and boost non-hydrocarbon exports.

El-Hadi Bakir, Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Trade, highlighted the improved quality of Algerian dates and reiterated support for producers through mechanisms such as the Special Export Promotion Fund (FSPE). The exhibition, which runs from 21 to 23 November, will feature more than 180 exhibitors, raising the profile of this key economic sector.
