Organized by the Ministry
of Trade and Export Promotion, in collaboration with the Club des Entrepreneurs
et Industriels de la Mitidja (CEIMI), the trade fair has over time become a
barometer of national economic development. For El Hadi Bakir, Secretary
General of the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, this second edition is
an opportunity for foreign investors to explore the Algerian market in the hope
of forging partnerships with local entrepreneurs. “Today, we are proud to
achieve a 100% Algerian production,” said the Ministry’s representative during
a press briefing on the occasion. He also announced that non-oil exports had
reached $5 billion and could, he said, “reach $7 billion by the end of the
year.”
To boost exports, El Hadi Bakir explains that the State
has put in place adequate mechanisms to make the export process easy and
accessible to all domestic exporters. "The objective is to put Algerian
trade on the international trade agenda," the SG of the Ministry of
Commerce noted. In the presence of the ambassadors of Senegal, Bangladesh and
the Russian Trade Commissioner, El Hadi Bakira visited the exhibitors' stands
where he was receptive to the various concerns of economic operators, some of
whom mentioned the scarcity of raw material for production.
